Ink wash depicting a male profile portrait in the style of a medal, in the manner of the celebrated Italian-born medalist Jean-Baptiste Nini. Very likely a posthumous portrait of King Louis XV in his youth, who was then said to be the most handsome man in the kingdom. In a circular, formerly gilded wooden frame with dentils and ribbon scrolls, in the Louis XVI style. Work from the late 18th or very early 19th century. Overall diameter: 8.5 cm. Visible diameter: 6.5 cm.
