"Polychrome Carved Wooden Console Table, Decorated With Scrolls, Acanthus Leaves, Ribbons And Tassels, 18th Century"
A spectacular polychrome carved wooden wall console, decorated with lateral scrolls, acanthus leaves, foliate scrolls, ribbons, and a cascade of oak leaves and acorns in the center. This exquisitely carved console boasts a truly original ornamentation and rich, captivating polychromy. It was likely originally an architectural element within an aristocratic residence or a high altar, later converted into a wall console. The absence of a top tends to confirm this hypothesis. The flamboyant style suggests a southern origin – perhaps from the South of France, Spain, or Italy. 18th century. In very good overall condition, despite some minor losses and later reinforcements on the back, which are well documented in the photographs. In any case, this is an object of exceptional craftsmanship and undeniable decorative quality.
