Oval miniature depicting the portrait of a gentleman wearing a white cravat, late 18th century, painted in oil on canvas, set in a rich Italian (probably Tuscan) Baroque-style frame from a later period.
An example of this ornate frame, identical in every respect, is housed at the Carnavalet Museum (Portrait of Monsieur de Berny, Inv. BAL 515).
Some scuffing and minor flaking (stable) should be noted, as documented in the photographs.
