"Helmet Of The First Company Of Musketeers, Grey, King's Military Household, Model 1814"
GREY MUSKETEER HELMET (1st Company) OF THE KING'S MILITARY HOUSEHOLD, MODEL 1814, RESTORATION PERIOD.

Silvered copper helmet bowl (16 cm deep), visor (7 cm), and neck guard. Visor and neck guard edged with a brass band folded over the outer rim (8 mm).
Gilt brass oval front plate, 11.1 cm wide, 12.3 cm high (11.9 cm without the curve), stamped with the cross of the 1st Company of Musketeers with fleurs-de-lis framing the cross and flames in the corners; the center of the cross is cut out and adorned with a chased silver plaque.
Two large gilt brass branches of oak and laurel are attached to the bowl on either side of the front plate.

A tubular plume holder, tapering towards the bottom, with a round cross-section, 4.5 cm high, engraved with a molding decorated with palmettes.
A gilt brass crest stamped with flames and lightning bolts emerging from a cornucopia, with a bursting bomb on the front from which flames and lightning bolts also emanate. The motto of the first company, "QUO RUIT ET LETHUM" (Wherever he rushes, death rushes too), is embossed on the body. The crest is attached to the bomb by eight screws on its lower part, which is folded outwards and decorated with a series of tulips. Maximum height 11.5 cm, width at the center of the mask 4.5 cm.
A black horsehair crest ornament with a gilt brass socket, 9 cm high, 6.2 cm in diameter.
A flowing black horsehair mane, adorned in the center with a black horsehair braid. Mane 78 cm long.
Chin straps, each composed of a gilt brass rosette in the shape of a bursting bomb from which flames and lightning bolts emerge, 10.6 cm high, 6.7 cm wide; and a chin strap covered with a series of 18 gilt brass scales cut in a scalloped pattern, alternating between four and three scallops (the penultimate scale is cut with two scallops and the last is rounded); they are mounted on leather covered with black velvet (restorations), 17 cm apparent length, 5.4 cm maximum width, ending in a small gold tassel (the fringe is missing from one of the two tassels).
Inner lining of leather and black silk.
Total height 41 cm.

Excellent condition, a small chip to the oak and laurel branch on the left side (break but no missing pieces), inner lining worn but complete.
