Tablecloth Or Wall Hanging In Cherry And Cream Damask Satin Lampas - Louis XVI Period
Circa 1780, France. A Louis XVI period silk lampas tablecloth, wall hanging, or bedspread with wide cherry and cream stripes and undulating flowering branches. Likely a detached dress, this lampas, with a satin ground and twill-effect border, is lined with cream cotton batiste and edged with taffeta in the same color. There are two or three tiny slits only at the edges; otherwise, the silk is stable and durable. Overall, it is in good condition, both in terms of color and preservation. Dimensions: 260 cm x 230 cm.
