French School (19th-20th century) This antique oil painting on wood panel depicts a rural scene typical of Brittany at the end of the 19th or beginning of the 20th century. The landscape highlights a group of thatched cottages, arranged in a gentle gradient and bathed in soft autumnal light. The houses, with their simple forms and rustic appearance, evoke traditional Breton rural life.
