Parisian Alley - édouard Febvre (1885-1967)

Oil on canvas depicting a Parisian alleyway. Figures in a lively alley are visible, along with charming, picturesque houses and a beautifully rendered perspective that is luminous and colorful. A specialist in Parisian cityscapes, Febvre belongs to the lineage of painters of modern life. In this work, the artist brilliantly captures the elegance of the boulevards, the movement of passersby, and the unique atmosphere of the capital. His technique, characterized by a fluid brushstroke and a keen attention to light, perfectly conveys the romantic charm of Paris. Febvre doesn't simply paint buildings; he paints an atmosphere. His colored grays and touches of vibrant color (the flowers of a merchant, the dresses of the ladies) are typical of his talent. Good condition. Signed lower right and numbered (artist's salon). Frame dimensions (not original): 78.3 x 67.4 cm. Oil painting dimensions: 65 x 54 cm. Delivery possible by specialized carrier with reinforced protection. Contact me at +33 6 78 87 61 61. Edouard Febvre (1885-1967), a painter of Parisian life in the French school, belongs to that lineage of early 20th-century French painters who made Paris their principal muse. Before the First World War, he exhibited post-Impressionist style paintings with broad, colorful impasto at the Salon des Indépendants. He painted Parisian avenues and parks, as well as the banks of the Oise and Seine rivers. After 1920, he turned towards modern painting. He developed a passion for the world of Travellers, creating works depicting caravans and Roma people in an atmosphere and composition that conveyed the poverty and pride, the joy and nostalgic melancholy of his subjects. The Paris of the destitute, the fortifications, the slums, and Montmartre also captivated him, and his canvases, rendered in a deceptively naive style, imbued the harsh realities of daily poverty with dignity and poetry. One of these works, "Marché de Saint Ouen" (Saint-Ouen Market), is in the collection of the Centre Pompidou-Metz in Paris. Throughout his career,
