Grenadier Officer's Shako Of The National Guard, Model 1830, France, Louis Philippe Period
A fine shako belonging to an officer of the grenadiers of the National Guard, Model 1830.
The front plate is made of silvered copper and adorned with a rooster and a grenade (distinctive mark of grenadier regiments). It is topped by a metal cocard painted with the national colors blue, white and red.
The chin strap is also made of silvered copper adorned with grenades.
The body is made of cardboard covered with beaver felt with a silver officer's braid at the top. A black felt band covers the lower part of the body.
The top, visor and liner are leather.
The shako is topped with a double red wool pompom (distinctive color of grenadiers).
The name "Yille" is hand written inside the shako.
Very well preserved piece and entirely original (chin strap fastening laces changed).
Rare in this excellent and authentic condition.
