Pair Of South American Gaucho Spurs, 19th Century

Large and impressive pair of Rioplatense gaucho spurs from Argentina or Uruguay, dating to the late 19th century (circa 1880–1900).
Forged entirely in iron, decorated with damascened inlay of alpaca (nickel silver).
The spurs feature a very large star wheel (12.5 cm diameter) with long points and strongly curved arms, characteristic of traditional espuela grande worn by gauchos.

Length: 24.5 cm
Materials: forged iron with alpaca inlay
Condition: Well used, with honest wear, patina, partial loss of inlay and oxidation consistent with age and use. Untouched and original.

These spurs are authentic working objects, valued for their powerful form, craftsmanship and clear signs of use, which enhance their historical character.
