Pair Of South American Gaucho Spurs, 19th Century
Large and impressive pair of Rioplatense gaucho spurs from Argentina or Uruguay, dating to the late 19th century (circa 1880–1900).
Forged entirely in iron, decorated with damascened inlay of alpaca (nickel silver).
The spurs feature a very large star wheel (12.5 cm diameter) with long points and strongly curved arms, characteristic of traditional espuela grande worn by gauchos.

Condition: Well used, with honest wear, patina, partial loss of inlay and oxidation consistent with age and use. Untouched and original.
