REPUBLICAN GUARD NON-COMMISSIONED OFFICER'S SHAKO, Model 1928–1933, Fourth Republic.

Shaped like a truncated oblique cone, with a frame made of sturdy cardboard covered in fine dark blue cloth; the crown and brim are made of blackened patent cowhide leather; the cockade is an embossed tin star painted in the national colors of blue, white, and red. Fake chin strap consisting of a flat chain made of circular brass rings, intertwined in pairs, held in place by two round brass rosettes embossed with a flaming bomb. Around the upper rim of the helmet, a fine gold braided trim with a cul-de-dé pattern; in the center, a strip of orange wool woven directly into the trim. On each side, a V-shaped chevron made of gold braid and dark orange wool, and a black-lacquered metal vent.
A brass plaque embossed with the coat of arms of the city of Paris. The visor is made of black patent leather lined with green morocco leather on the inside, with a folded brass band straddling the outer edge.
Inner lining of blackened, glossy sheepskin with six wolf’s teeth.
