Monumental altarpiece depicting Mary on her throne tenderly holding Christ, flanked by John the Baptist and Saint Peter.
This impressive triptych was created during the 18th century by a follower of the Florentine school of the  Quattrocento, particularly of the master Fra Angelico.

Set within a late Gothic frame, this work, painted on gilded wood, is characterized by its elegance and luminosity.
Typical of the 15th-century Florentine school, the figures appear realistically and the drapery is rendered without ostentatious luxury. The extraordinary Florentine sense of color is also evident, with vibrant yellows, oranges, and reds.

Calm, gentleness, and spirituality emanate from the figures.
The gilded background symbolizes the celestial realm.

Three coats of arms are depicted at the top of the frame, including (in the center) that of the merchants' guild of Florence, the influential and wealthy Arte dei Mercatanti, also known as the Arte di Calimala, whose symbol is a golden eagle on a red background holding a package of goods. The Arte di Mercatanti, which existed from the 12th century until the 18th century (1770), financed numerous important artistic, religious, and public projects.
As an example, this guild commissioned the famous marble façade of the San Miniato al Montela basilica in Florence, which features a golden eagle at its summit.
It therefore appears that our triptych was also financed by the Arte di Mercatanti of Florence, presumably for a church.

This master piece is in very good condition. Minor losses and craquelure.
