It dates from the middle of the 19th century -- circa 1830/1860. Its style, refinement and palette allow it to be attributed to a workshop in the Volga region - in the vein of the Palekh school.
This iconographic subject shows the Mother of God extending her protection to all those who suffer, rich and poor.
In the Byzantine style, the work is very finely painted in tempera in light and warm tones on a wooden panel with a gilded background - a symbol of divine light. The expression on Mary's face, full of gentleness, is particularly touching.
Very good general condition. Some small losses, cracks and wear consistent with the age of this work.
This collector's artwork is sold with its certificate of authenticity and a complete description.
