Satsuma Gosu Blue Incense Burner Signed Kizan, Japan, Meiji Period Circa 1885
This small Japanese Satsuma incense burner (koro) adds a rich decorative accent to an interior scheme. Signed Kizan beneath the Shimazu crest, it is decorated in the collectible gosu-blue palette with swirling cobalt waves, turquoise tones and raised gold chrysanthemum motifs. The domed metal lid, pierced with radiating ribs around a chrysanthemum boss, completes the sculptural silhouette.
Compact yet full of presence, the koro sits comfortably on a console, sideboard or display shelf, especially with its original wooden stand. The colour harmony and textured gilding create a refined late-Meiji aesthetic that blends easily with modern interiors.
