"Circa 1800. Solid Mahogany Writing Case "
A writing case made in the late 18th or early 19th century, crafted from solid Cuban mahogany, which is uncommon, and reinforced with numerous brass corners. It features a side drawer, secured from the inside by a removable pin. Storage compartments are located beneath the felt-lined panels, including a pen holder and spaces for an inkwell and powder compact (not present). It is worth noting that the back panel of the case is made of a more fibrous mahogany, less expensive than the superb mahogany used for the front. The latter must have been extremely costly. In very good original condition, with a working key.
