Portrait Of A Young Woman From The Empire Period
This small portrait, painted brilliantly under the Empire, representing a young woman, who wears a slight amused smile is full of life. In a format approaching that used by Leopold Boilly, it seems painted with a less icy touch, but full of energy, a touch reminiscent of the Dutch of the Golden Age. Everything is suggested by small, quick but precise touches which give vitality to this remarkable face. The treatment of the hair, raised a little in disorder, is of a very realistic treatment. In good original condition, a little cleaning will give it an additional shine. The frame is period, with a pretty gilding. Dimensions of the canvas: 24 cm x 19 cm
