Louis XVI Mahogany Chest Of Drawers With A Large Projection
Here is a Louis XVI chest of drawers made of a very beautiful Cuban mahogany probably in the first half of the 19th century, in the Riesener style. Beautiful proportions (129 cm wide), extreme care has been taken with all the details. It is characterized by a strong central projection decorated with fluting, and two large drawers without crosspieces. The upper part has three drawers. The frame is entirely in oak and the drawers remarkably finished. The panels are worked in volume with frames that highlight the reflection of the wood. It is a piece of furniture that takes up all the refined codes of the extreme end of the 18th century, and if it was probably not made under Louis XVI (I could be wrong because we do not come across this quality every day), it is a worthy heir. The varnish is original, a little tarnished, but still very shiny. The three keys are very nicely openwork, and all the locks work.
