Large Gateleg Oak Console Table, Drop-leaf Dining Table
An imposing gateleg table, slightly oval in shape, made of solid oak, dating from the very beginning of the 19th century. This table seats eight when open. It consists of a fixed rectangular central base and four pivoting legs that can be positioned perpendicular or diagonal to the central legs. An impressive and ingenious system of very thick, all-wood pivots allows the movement of the four outer legs (see photo 11). The tabletop is in three sections. With the leaves folded down, the table forms a large console table. The piece is in very good condition, solid, and extremely stable. The base shows some signs of wear, and there is a small repair on the tabletop. Dimensions with the tabletop open: 172cm x 155cm // As a console: 155cm x 62cm
