A rare small crater-shaped vase, modeled after the ancient "Krater of the Talents," produced during the Roman Empire in the 1st century AD and now on display in Pisa( See last pic) .
Decorated with a finely executed and detailed Dionysian frieze around its entire circumference, this beautiful little vase is a perfect example of the fine Italian craftsmanship disseminated as part of the Grand Tour in the 19th century. The vase is presented on a handsome, stepped column of green Alpine marble. In excellent overall condition. High-quality work, Italy, 19th century.
