Large and rare carved gray veined marble stair "ball" depicting a stylized pine cone. Executed in the Louis XVI style, this lovely stair riser is of fine quality and has retained its beautiful antique patina. Ideal for complementing an antique staircase or simply displayed as a beautiful decorative object and curiosity. A hole in the base allowed for a threaded rod to be attached to the stair riser column. Easy to reposition if needed. Likely Italian work from the first half of the 19th century.
