It is in good condition and dates from the 1900s-1920s.
A very durable rug, it boasts beautiful colors on a burgundy base.
The main color is a deep burgundy, complemented by gray, blue-gray, rust, ivory, and black, applied to large foliage, flowers, and palm fronds.
The shades are fresh, and the thick, soft pile is in good condition despite its age.
The edges are also in good condition.
The rug is abundantly covered with small, stylized flowers and features well-defined borders.
The contrast of shades is striking. The main border is finished with two thin braids.
Kork wool is the softest and silkiest wool, taken from the first shearing of lambs, primarily from under the neck and belly.
This rug is a beautiful decorative and comfortable piece;
the design is abundant and magnificent. Stylized and enhanced by a beautiful design and high-quality kork wool.
The Sarough rug, or Sarouk, the Ecbatana of Antiquity, is knotted in a few villages near Sarouk in the agricultural region of Arak. European buying houses have had branches there since the mid-19th century.
Most of these rugs are nicknamed Hamadan by traders, particularly the travel rugs knotted in this region.
These rugs have distinct identities; our model is of the Sarouk type, knotted in the small town of the same name, but marketed as Hamadan.
These rugs remain very popular in the United States, where decorators appreciate the heavy and substantial luxury pieces made of wool imported from Persia, Iran, and India.
Indian Sarough rugs are of immense quality, tightly knotted with wool imported from New Zealand.
Dimensions: Width: 108 cm (42") x Length: 166 cm (65")
The rug has been professionally and ecologically cleaned.
