Hanging Salt Cellar, Vermeil, Green Enamel, Napoleon III Bouquets
This charming bottle is made of translucent green enamel over paillons, decorated on both sides with a bouquet of different flowers within a white-ground medallion, framed in gold enamel with a shell pediment. Its rim is adorned with a frieze of quatrefoils in gold paillons under the enamel. The hinged stopper is made of finely repoussé and chased vermeil. It is suspended by a thin, flat chain.
The small, emery-polished inner stopper is present and not stuck! Boar's head hallmark.
VERY GOOD CONDITION! Napoleon III period, circa 1850.
Note:
A discreet crack in the enamel on the hinge side and a small restoration to the lower right corner of this side.
