Vermeil Enamel Brooch, Helmeted Goddess Profile, 1880
This beautiful brooch in polylobed vermeil is decorated on a dark blue background with an enameled portrait of a goddess wearing a helmet chiseled with a fabulous animal head, her hair is finely detailed and spangles highlight details in translucent red enamel. Details of her clothing and helmet are in chiseled vermeil.
The gallery supporting the enamel is chiseled and pierced with an ornamental garland motif. On the back a hallmark 900, on the C of the clasp the French import hallmark weevil.
Excellent condition, probably origin Austria or Germany, 19th century period circa 1880.
