Pair Of 18th-century Shoe Buckles With Rhinestone And Silver Fittings
These beautiful shoe buckles are made of silver and steel, featuring a stylized knot motif centered on a flower entirely set with rhinestones on cut paillon.
They are unique in that they have a hinged and ratchet system to secure them in place. Their reasonable size suggests they were intended to adorn ladies' shoes.
The silver is unhallmarked and has been tested with a touchstone.
They have a lovely patina, with no tarnishing of the paillon. In excellent condition, with no missing pieces or damage, the stones are very sparkling; only the stones in the flower petals, positioned higher up, show slight wear.
