Pair Of Solid Silver Shoe Buckles, 18th Century, Fashion / Shoes
A pair of antique solid silver shoe buckles dating from the 18th century.
Rectangular in shape with beveled edges and a slightly curved profile, they feature a chased design of beaded friezes, moldings, and floral motifs.
Stylized flowers with domed cabochons punctuate the borders and accentuate the design.
The backs retain their original iron fastening mechanisms, with prongs and hinged parts.
One of the buckles bears a hallmark on the back.
A beautiful set representative of 18th-century costume accessories, a period during which shoe buckles were an important element of both men’s and women’s attire.
