Pair Of Period Candlesticks, Restored, 1820–1830, 19th Century, Gilded And Silver-plated Bronze Candlesticks
A vintage and elegant pair of gilded and silvered bronze candlesticks, adorned with cut-glass pendants, made during the Restoration period, circa 1820–1830.
The cylindrical shaft, alternating between gilded and silvered bronze, is embellished with an applied decoration of intertwined ribbons and neoclassical-inspired foliage.
A delicate wreath of finely chiseled roses supports a rich arrangement of cut-glass crystal pendants.
The piece perfectly illustrates the refinement of the Restoration period, when the legacy of the Empire style gradually gave way to a more naturalistic and romantic decorative style.
