Thick blade, with a low arrow, with a hollow face, struck on both sides with a naval anchor. The heel bears the starred B and D hallmarks. The back of the blade is engraved Coulaux & Cie Klingenthal. It has retained its counter-polished base.
Enveloping guard in black painted metal. Traces of hallmarks on the quillon.
Blackened leather scabbard without drawstrings with two brass fittings, retaining the shoulder belt pocket (by tradition, in the navy, the bufflèteries were made of black patent leather).
Anecdotally: these sabers were used for boarding, but were also used to cut ropes. They are undoubtedly the origin of the expression "to settle the matter in two strokes of a pot spoon".
Good condition. Wear from use.
