Lantern Dagger Called "puñal" Albacete, Spain 19th Century
This dagger is Spanish, originating from the city of Albacete. It dates from the 19th century. The so-called "lantern" dagger because of the central part of the handle which features a stylized lantern is typical of Andalusian manufacture in Albacete, although its shape was also taken up in the Malaga region. The interest of this weapon is to have preserved its original scabbard.
BLADE : it is double-edged, of diamond-shaped section. Length of the blade = 17 cm, width near the guard = 2.3 cm, thickness near the guard = 2.8 mm
GUARD : it is the small diamond-shaped steel guard typical of the model.
GRIP : coil-shaped since it derives from the plug bayonet of the previous century. The two ends are made of brass, with a small engraved decoration. The central part or "lantern" is made of bone.
SCABBARD : Wooden, covered in green leather, with brass scabbard entry and chape.
Nice 19th century Andalusian weapon, complete and in good condition.
