Toiletry Box, With Wig, Martin Varnish, 18th Century Regency
Toilet box called wig box from the beginning of the 18th century.
Box in good condition, lacquered wood, Martin varnish with chinoiserie decorations very fashionable during the great period of decorative arts of the 18th.
The top of the box is decorated with chinoiserie; the sides are ogee on the four faces, their decoration simulates tortoiseshell in red and black.
The interior, golden brown with glitter on a brown background, is original and clean; a thin crack is located in the bottom.
The closure is fitted with its decorative brass flat and its quiillon, both original, Box in very good condition despite some missing decorations.
