"Crest Gelede Yoruba Nago Nigeria"
Here is an old Gelede Yoruba crest mask. This surprising face with its 2 prominent canines, wide open eyes (in a trance), carrying on the back a character who stands upright clinging to the 2 horns! It has a significant old patina of use, one horn is nailed back and part of the bottom of the right side repaired (see photo 6). Beginning of the last century or before. It comes from the estate of a doctor, Dr. Aubes, collected during stays in Africa.
