From a very young age, Roger was passionate about drawing. In the 1930s, he devoted himself to oil painting, exploring still lifes, landscapes and allegories, while sketching with a lively line the faces of his time - artists, actors, singers and politicians. Even during his mobilization, he never left his pencil or his colors, transforming everyday moments into a gallery of portraits imbued with humor and humanity. In the aftermath of the war, he attended Parisian academies where he perfected his art, fueled by a burning desire to devote his life to painting. However, material difficulties forced him to pursue a career as an industrial designer. In 1946, he took a sabbatical year to return to his native Roussillon and rediscover the light of his origins. That same year, he and his friend Roger Montané organized the First Catalan Art Salon in Paris, bringing together some two hundred artists, including Picasso, Miro, Maillol, and Dufy. His painting, La Catalane au Rosaire, was noticed there and soon acquired by the State, a sign of well-deserved recognition. Throughout the following decades, Roger exhibited in the greatest salons, celebrating through his works the simple and proud beauty of Catalan life—markets, villages, women at work, interiors bathed in sunlight. In 1957, he met Salvador Dalí in Port-Lligat and painted his portrait, a precious souvenir of a brotherhood of spirit and origin.
