Early 19th Century American School Portrait with named sitter on verso, Phoebe Mullican, wife of Rowland Chambers, died 1826. Quite grand in scale and extremely well done in its naive yet detailed execution. Beautiful detail in face and bonnet, as well as detailing in the sofa she is seated upon. Evidence of early restoration but overall in phenomenal condition. Housed in an early (yet unlikely original) pine frame.
