Pair of footed cups after the Antique in patinated bronze and decorated in high relief with friezes depicting the "Young Eros and the Centaurs". This beautiful model of cup intended for drinking wine and known in ancient Greece under the name of "Kantharus" / Cantharus, is characterized by a deep body supported by a circular foot and decorated with wide lateral grips. Our pair of cups has different decorations on each of the two faces of the two cups, four different decorations in total, all on the theme of the games of the young Eros with the Centaurs. The shape is characteristic of Roman ceremonial goldsmith pieces, generally made of solid silver; the Boscoreale treasure discovered in the 19th century in Italy, near Pompeii is a perfect example ....
