Important oval earthenware dish with polychrome decoration in high relief, in the spirit of the creations of Bernard Palissy (1510-1590).
Description
The central scene depicts a hunter asleep in a wooded landscape, surprised by a deer appearing above him; composition animated by naturalistic details (trunk, foliage, rocks). The rim, enameled in deep blue, is decorated with oval and circular reserves enameled in light yellow, framed by scrolls and relief motifs in the tradition of the Palissy school.
Beautiful molded border in cord, highlighted with yellow glaze. Work of the School of Bernard Palissy, probably late 19th century.

Very slight chips of enamel from use, otherwise good general condition.
