Processional Monstrance - 18th Century
Beautiful 18th century processional element in gilded brass resting on a later gilded wooden base.
The Savior of humanity represented by his monogram is here in place of the host.
At the very heart of a small monstrance, which is embedded in a larger ensemble comprising Cloud, Glory and three hearts. The cloud symbolizes the Divine presence, the Glory is radiant as it should be, and the three hearts whose contours are finely hammered, discreetly refer us to the Trinity.
Intended to be hoisted to the top of a rod, the Glory is visible from the front as well as from the back during the procession.
To do this, these two faces are thus treated in an identical manner.
An Italian work circa 1750
Dimensions of the ensemble: 56 cm high by 27 cm.
Good condition. Note a re-welding on the main node with small deformation
