"The tavern", oil on panel, Flemish school, circa 1620, early 17th century. We present this beautiful painting representing the interior of a tavern animated by characters, some smoking and others near the fireplace. To the right of the composition a woman standing in a doorway. On each side of the painting on the lower part of the utensils are represented in the manner of still life attesting to the pictorial quality of the painting. It is to be observed a beautiful play of chiaroscuro giving a certain intimacy to the scene. A beautiful frame in the taste of the 17th century completes the decor. Private collection.
