Through a window, we see vertical lines evoking rain falling on a forest, while musical staves and notes are superimposed, translating the drops like a sound score. François Crabit plays here on the crossing of lines and transparency to offer a vision of the downpour that is both realistic and dreamlike. It is most likely an intaglio work (etching and aquatint, enhanced by drypoint or burin details), techniques that allow for the play of nuances, textures and densities.
