An exceptional textile work, this silk on silk tapestry handmade by the prestigious Özipek manufacture in Hereke (Turkey), represents the famous scene of The Last Supper, inspired by Leonardo da Vinci. The fineness of its weaving (10x10 knots/cm², or more than a million knots per m²) makes it a piece of museum quality, very rare on the market.
Every detail – from faces to drapes – is treated with extreme precision. The name of the apostles is written at the bottom of the composition. Signature "Özipek Hereke" woven in the upper border, original label on the back (ref. 0534755) and nameplate on frame.
The work is highlighted in a gold-plated leaf frame, custom-designed, with intact silk fringes and careful assembly.
Hereke, the imperial city of the Ottoman Empire, has been known worldwide for its exceptional silk carpets since the 19th century. Özipek models are among the most sought after.
