Set Of Four Vintage Belle époque Illustrations – Cardona, Circa 1900
An elegant set of four vintage color illustrations on paper depicting scenes of Parisian life during the Belle Époque: elegant women in large hats, social conversations, and figures gathered in refined interiors.
These compositions are traditionally attributed to Juan Cardona (1877–1958), a Catalan painter, draftsman, and illustrator active in Paris in the early 20th century. Some bear the signature “Cardona” on the print. An old handwritten inscription visible on the mat boards also reads: “Juan Cardona – circa 1900.”
These are vintage color prints, not original hand-signed drawings. Their exquisite linework, delicate hues, and characteristic subjects offer a charming glimpse into Parisian elegance around 1900.
The four works are mounted under glass in magnificent matching frames made of stained and gilded wood, accented with burgundy fillets. The elegant antique mat boards, decorated with fillets, perfectly highlight each composition.
The set is in very good visible condition. The colors are well preserved, and no noticeable deterioration is visible under the glass. The works have never been removed from their frames.
Dimensions of the illustrations:
– two illustrations measuring 26 × 20 cm;
– two illustrations measuring 25.5 × 19.5 cm.
