4 Historical Engravings History Of England Cipriani & Suntach 1790
Artist: Cipriani & Suntach
Superb set of four old engravings from the 18th century, extracted from the prestigious History of England series, drawn by Giovanni Battista Cipriani (inv. and del.) and engraved under the direction of Antonio Suntach (directed by A. Suntach), around 1790, probably published in Bassano (Italy).
These scenes portray famous episodes of English history, according to a theatrical and refined composition, with characters in historical costumes, against a background of elaborate architectural sets. Finely hand-colored chisel engravings, typical of the sentimental neo-classical style in vogue at the end of the 18th century.

➤ Scene of Rizzio's murder in front of Mary Stuart, tragic episode of 1566.

➤ Queen Elizabeth Woodville imploring for protection for her children.
