Object description :

"Mario Abis (1924-2004) "fiori", 1973 - Original Signed Etching And Aquatint "
Mario ABIS (1924–2004) “Fiori”, 1973 – Original signed etching – Italian modern art Etching and aquatint on paper, 71 x 50 cm Superb original print by Mario Abis, an emblematic figure of post-war Italian modern art. Produced in 1973, this work entitled Fiori (The Flowers) combines the finesse of etching with the pictorial density of aquatint to compose an image that is both structured and poetic. The composition combines stylized floral abstraction, plays on textures and subtle contrasts in a monochrome palette with powerful accents. A rare and elegant work, which reflects all the plastic rigor and graphic sensitivity of the artist. The print is signed in pencil lower right, titled and dated in the center. On the back, a period exhibition label attests to its presentation at the 5th Biennale of Contemporary Incision in Italy (Biennale del Sud, Taranto, 1973). Very good general condition. Authenticity guaranteed – exhibition piece. Provenance: private collection, Italy. Careful shipping possible. Biography Mario Abis (1924–2004) was an Italian artist born in Chioggia, active in the post-war modern art movement. An engraver and painter, he distinguished himself with his compositions combining geometric abstraction, architectural rigor and lyrical expression. He exhibited at several biennials in Italy, and his works are featured in numerous European private collections. His work is characterized by a great mastery of printmaking techniques, particularly etching and aquatint, which he explored throughout his career.
