A beautiful landscape titled by the artist *The Road Through the Wheat*, engraved by Jean Frelaut, a painter and engraver from Morbihan (1879–1954). A student of Fernand Cormon at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris beginning in 1897, he studied engraving under Donald Shaw Mac Laughlan. He traveled throughout Europe and North Africa, served in World War I, and then returned to settle in Morbihan in 1926. In 1934, he received the French Engraving Prize at the Venice Biennale and was appointed curator of the Musée de Vannes in 1937.
The engraving is dated 1927 and signed on the plate in the lower left corner. It is titled in the lower left corner, countersigned, and numbered 6/25 in the lower right corner in pencil. A dry stamp from the publisher Sagot is also visible in the lower right corner.
