"1564 - Lyon - Trial For Embezzlement, Church Of Saint Pierre Le Vieulx "
Request executed by the seneschal of Lyon at the request of Sébastien Chambollay, canon and prebendary of the church of Saint-Pierre-le-Vieux in Lyon. He accuses Claude Boullioud, heir of Claude Boullioud (†), canon of the church of Saint-Just, of having illegitimately embezzled 20 livres tournois from the income of the said prebend. - We have not found any trace of the complainant. - - - The Boullioud family was influential in Lyon in the 16th century. A vault in the name of this family still existed in the church of Saint Pierre le Vieulx in the 17th century (*). - Claude Boullioud, father of the accused, is cited (*) between 1515-20 as treasurer of the clergy's contribution for the maintenance of the ramparts, on behalf of François de Rohan 1480-1536, archbishop of Lyon. - Claude Boullioud, accused, is cited as treasurer of the Saint Just church, and died in 1593 (*) - The Saint Pierre le Vieulx church damaged by the wars of religion was restored from 1583. It was destroyed in 1866.
