Johannes Buxtorf 1564 - 1629 is a famous Hebraist, belonging to a family of orientalists. He was professor of Hebrew at the University of Basel for thirty-nine years and is known under the title of "Master of the Rabbis". He received many Jewish scholars at his home, with whom he was able to discuss the difficulties he encountered, and he was often consulted by the Jews themselves on questions relating to their ceremonial law. Edition revised by the author's son, also a professor specializing in the Hebrew language. Very fine copy.
