A finely modeled and well-preserved pair of porcelainfigures, produced by Bros. Voigt & Alfred Voigt, Sitzendorf, Thuringia,circa 1887. The composition shows a seated girl and boy, each accompanied by apet lamb — a theme often associated with innocence and sentiment in19th-century decorative art. The girl is feeding her lamb with a gilded spoon, while the boy gentlystrokes his lamb in a quiet gesture of affection. Both are richly hand-painted,with detailed floral garments and finely preserved gilt highlights. Theirfacial modeling and expressive gestures are precisely executed. Thewhite lace-like elements of their clothing are formed using actual fabricdipped in porcelain slip and fired - a technique known as porcelain lace orDresden lace. Sitzendorf was particularly recognized for its mastery of thisdelicate process during the Voigt period. The base withunderglaze blue cross-hatch mark, attributed to the Sitzendorf factory, in usefrom around 1887.
