Directoire period skeleton clock in gilt bronze forming a portico, with four columns on a circular base. The upper part decorated with an eagle and a floral garland. White enamel dial decorated with a royal blue rim dotted with golden stars. Roman numerals for the hours, railroad for the minutes and Arabic numeral indications every 15 minutes. Signed Le Roy à Paris. Gilt and chiseled brass hands. Round Paris movement without striking wire suspension. Weekly winding. With its pendulum and key. Basile-Charles Le Roy opened a watchmaking workshop and shop in Paris in 1785, after having been received as a master watchmaker. Quickly recognized, he became one of the Parisian references in clocks and travel clocks during the French Revolution. Very famous, he even became clockmaker to the Emperor's mother in 1805.
