Pair Of Biedermeier Armoires In Elm Burl – Austria, Early 19th Century
Elegant pair of elm burl armoires, from the Austro-Hungarian area, dating to the early Biedermeier period, around 1830. Their clean, balanced lines reflect the purest Biedermeier aesthetic, focused on functionality and harmony.
The beautiful bookmatched elm burl veneer features vivid grain and mirror-like flame patterns. The internal structure is entirely made of fir, a commonly used secondary wood of the time.
Noteworthy are the carved decorative elements: fluted columns on the sides and in the center, topped with small acanthus-leaf capitals. The door panels are framed with beaded mouldings and corner scroll carvings in relief.
The armoires are healthy, professionally restored and ready for use—perfect for both classical and modern interiors.
