Serge Sauvage – The Port At Sunset – Oil On Panel – Signed

Oil on plywood, almost square format, depicting a port at sunset. The painting is composed of 3 horizontal zones: the highest, in mauve tones, shows industrial installations that blend in with the hills. The whole stands out against a yellow sky. The central band is that of the river, a pretty blue-green tone, on which we see 4 ships of different sizes. The lowest zone is that of an artisanal shipyard: several characters move around boats, on an ochre-brown ground.
The boldness of the colors used, its audacious composition, make this painting an inexhaustible source of observation and contemplation.

The work is in excellent condition. It is signed lower right. It is offered in a modern frame, also in excellent condition.

This work was painted by Serge Sauvage, a 20th-century painter from southern France, known for his post-impressionist works depicting scenes of daily life, urban and maritime landscapes, as well as lively markets.
