CRÉPET, Christophe (1807-1864). “Section along the length” of the church of La Guillotière (Lyon, Rhône), 1835. Pen and wash. 38.2 x 56.4 cm visible, under a contemporary marie-louise of 43.1 x 61.3 cm, in a modern frame of 57 x 77 cm. Vertical fold in the left part with the beginning of a tear at the top of this fold. Signed lower right: “Lyon, June 1, 1895, Ch. Crépet”. Handwritten note at the top right: "Seen to be submitted to the Council of Civil Buildings, The Deputy fulfilling the function of Mayor," with the stamp of the town hall of La Guillotière (this is the validation stamp allowing the project to pass before the Council of Civil Buildings, as the note indicates, and not a stamp of inclusion in the town hall archives). Christophe Crépet (1807-1864, born and died in Lyon) was a student of Antoine Laurent Thomas Vaudoyer at the École des Beaux-arts in Paris. He was notably architect-voyer of the city of Lyon and the principal builder of the commune of La Guillotière and of the current 3rd arrondissement of Lyon. The church of Notre-Dame Saint-Louis was built from 1842 to 1847 by Christophe Crépet, but according to a plan different from that of our drawing; we present here one of the very first projects of Christophe Crépet for this church. In 1852, La Guillotière was attached to the city of Lyon (of which it now forms the northern part of the 7th arrondissement). Ref. 9-85
