Countryside Scene By Michel Fréchon
Artist: Michel Fréchon
A rural scene in Normandy, depicting a woman drawing water from a lush garden adjoining a half-timbered manor house. The vegetation is abundant and beautifully rendered with a vibrant and energetic style. The work is signed by Michel Fréchon (1892-1974), son and student of Charles Fréchon (1856-1929). He was enrolled at the Rouen School of Fine Arts and exhibited at the Rouen gallery LEGRIP. His preferred medium was charcoal. Charcoal on laid paper, originally mounted on cardboard. Small crease near the signature and some discreet foxing. 62 x 47.5 cm. Unframed. Rouen School, circa 1940.
