Large Oil On Canvas "port Of Saint Malo" By Jeanne Simonnet
Artist: Jeanne Simonnet
Large and beautiful oil on canvas representing the port of Saint Malo from the Vauban basin, with the Grand Porte in the foreground and the neo-Gothic spire of the Saint Vincent cathedral in the background, standing out around the buildings. Jeanne Simonnet offers us a beautiful view where old fishing rigs and a steamship coexist, but also the testimony of the old town with its old buildings and its cathedral which suffered great damage during the bombardment of 1944. You can note also the choice of bright colors both for the boats and for the beautifully nuanced reflections of the water. Jeanne Simonnet, painter and etcher was born in Paris on June 16, 1879, a pupil of her father, the landscape painter Lucien Simonnet (1849-1926), and of the painter Braquemond. She appeared at the Salon of French Artists, honorable mention in 1908. French School around 1910. Frame: 109 cm x 90 cm. Canvas:: 91 cm x 72 cm.
